Paisley Transition Town was formed in September 2008 by a group of like-minded Buddies concerned with the prospective changes to society as a result of Climate Change and Peak Oil. As a group, our aim is to raise awareness of the issues associated with the twin challenges of climate Change and Peak Oil and the consequent need to develop a low carbon, sustainable future through ethical, social, cultural, economic, environmental and community action. Thus far, we have held meetings, organised awareness-raising community events and participated in community clean-ups, swelling our ranks along the way ! We would love more people to join us, be it mucking into an allotment, campaigning for better public transport, getting on your bikes, recycling or maybe agreeing to a garden share with someone who has limited access to green space.
We are living in turbulent times and the need to move towards a low-carbon, non oil-dependent future is pressing. If we work together as community and make those necessary lifestyle adjustments, then anything is possible. We believe in thinking globally, acting locally and liasing with other like-minded individuals and organisations in the pursuit of a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future for us all. We hope you will join us in working towards a better tommorrow.
